Business Development Coaching for Partners at Gibson Dunn

A pilot program for 2024, providing custom 1 on 1 support to a small group of Litigation Partners seeking to develop new business. 

About Adelma

Background

Adelma Hand is an ICF PCC certified coach with 10 years of experience and an MBA from Yale. She has also served in strategy, consulting and product development roles in consumer and tech from Fortune 200 to start-ups. 


Her passion is helping smart, driven people build careers and lives that work for them. 

Serving Gibson Dunn since 2016

Adelma has worked privately with a number of Gibson Dunn partners and associates to build businesses since 2016. This experience has given her a good understanding of the firm, including the free market system, the players and practice groups in Litigation, the available resources, the Schedule A process and the local office dynamics. 

Client Results

Her clients have developed business and niches that leverage their strengths, casework and relationships. Additionally, they often develop greater levels of energy and effectiveness.

Approach

Coaching is a customized, strengths-based approach, carving out the time to ask the questions that open up new perspectives and ways of operating, then practice new behaviors until they become habits.  (Carrot, not stick.)

What to Expect

Start with an Exploratory Chat

Set up an exploratory chat (45 minutes) to explore what coaching could mean for you. For this session, bring your goals, what’s getting in the way and where you would like help.

Setting Goals for the Coaching Program

Work with the coach to create 1-3 goals that are motivating to you around business development and reasonable in the 3 to 6 month time frame. It is best practice to share your goals with the Sponsor for feedback, alignment and support 

Time Commitment

Duration: 3 to 6 months

12 x 1 hour sessions, either weekly or bi monthly + 3 hours of business development work per week
